Why is my aircon not cold?

We will first take a look at the 4 main reasons why your aircon is not cold. It is important to find out the real issue and from there, our technicians will be able to advice on the solutions.

1) Leakage of Refrigerant (Gas)

Even after a gas top up, your aircon might not be cold after sometime due to a gas leak problem. A gas leak can happen to the aircon system namely at the fan coil unit, condensers or the internal pipings. Once there is a gas leak, the aircon system will not be able to continue functioning which results it not cold at all. This will also lead to higher energy consumption as the gas level are not at the requirement level.

2) Dirty Fancoil and Blower

If the internal fins of your fancoil are clogged by dusts, airflow will be uneven and therefore the cold air cannot be efficiently cooled down. Similarly, a dirty blower with dusts accumulated will also slow down the amount of cold air available which makes the aircon unit not cooling at all.

3) Malfunction Spare Parts

An aircon system are made up of many different parts such as the indoor and outdoor fan motor and motherboard. Once any of the parts are worn down due to wear and tear, the aircon will no longer be working. There are also other important parts of an aircon such as the outdoor compressor and magnetic valve. All the parts have their different uses and once they are broken, parts will have to be replaced in order to fix the issue. Hence, sometimes the malfunction of spare parts will also cause aircon not cold at all.

4) Blocked Consdenser

The condenser is one of the important component of an aircon system. If the fins are clogged by dusts and debris, it results in heat ventilation loss and therefore not allowing cold air to flow in. The dusts and dirt from the environment will stay on the fins and hence sometimes cleaning the condensers helps to ensure that the airflow are efficient and that the internal fins are not clogged.
